Barack Obama- "I want to bring fairness to the economy" (ABC debate 4-16)
Karl Marx "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
Barak Obama “And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or
religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment
or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” (May 2008)
Karl Marx "Religion is the opiate of the masses"
Know when to Hold ‘em
There is lots of speculation about the 2008 Presidential race.
Here’s mine.
One of the traits of the left is the circular firing squad. By
shutting out debate they come to believe that everyone thinks
like they do.
This manifests itself in the reaction to polls. Many polls are
‘push polls’. Often they give few options to chose from and use
double negatives where yes means no and no means yes.
The results of these polls reinforce the left’s belief that everyone
thinks like they do.
A recent unscientific AOL poll had John McCain leading Barack
Obama 62% to 38%. The alleged scientific polls have Obama
with a slight lead.
With a lead in the polls the leftist’s fringe feels emboldened.
Maxine Waters (D-Cal) said, “We plan to nationalize the oil
companies…”. Harry Reid (D Nev) says that the environment is
more important than oil prices. The democrat congress refuses
to move on the oil price issue.
Time for a Reality Check!
The AOL poll is probably closer to reality right now. For the
middle class the focus is on gas prices. Who cares about
the orange breasted hooter owl when you are giving up fun
for gas?
Survival takes a back seat to ideology every time. How is the
family on the economic fringe going to care about anything
except gas prices?
By enjoying the smell of their own flatulence the democrats are
overplaying their hand on the energy issue. That could be
good for Republicans in November.
Conservatives, of course, are on the outside no matter what the
November outcome.
Another thought on polls. Are they adjusting for the lie factor?
Many will say they favor Obama so as not to sound like a racist
to the voice on the phone. If you doubt that this is a factor I would
suggest a Psychology of Selling or Market Psychology course.
That 70’s Redux
One of the things that comes with the wisdom of years is
seeing history repeat. The 70’s are upon us again. There
is even a summer replacement TV show, Swingtown
(CBS, Thursdays 10 Eastern/9 Central), that captures the feel
of the era, kinkiness and all.
The politics of the 70’s was full of bad ideas. The Democrats
are lined up to repeat those bad ideas because to them history
starts anew each day.
A closer look at the current energy crisis is revealing.
1- Windfall profits tax on oil companies
70’s result, gas lines, odd-even rationing, even higher prices.
2- 55 MPH speed limit.
70’s result, “they can’t tell me what to do”, a scofflaw attitude
that led to disrespect for norms. (thus the theme of the
aforementioned TV show, Swingtown)
3- Appealing to the oil producers to up production.
70’s result, they didn’t listen then either.
4- Suing OPEC
70’s result, many years of useless litigation leading no where.
5- Unreasonable prohibitions on oil drilling and nuclear power.
70’s result, “If it’s yellow that’s mellow, if it’s brown flush it down.”
6- Increased CAFÉ standards
70’s result, Fiesta, Gremlin, Sprint, Pacer, LeCar, and sh!t boxes
galore.
I resent reliving the 70’s because these political morons continue
to ignore history AND common sense.
