“Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views,
but then are shocked and offended to learn that there are other views!” - William F. Buckley
The ‘Rev’ Jeremiah Wright
A couple of observations regarding Barrack Obama and the
Controversy surrounding his mentor Jeremiah Wright.
The retorts are classic liberalism.
“What about the things the Reverend Pat Robertson says?”
“What about that Rev. Hagee who endorsed John McCain?”
“It’s all the same thing.”
Robertson, Hagee and other ‘conservative’ preachers are not
John McCain’s mentors. He doesn’t belong to their church. There
is no moral equivalence
Let’s look at the corollary. Suppose John McCain belonged to a white
supremist church in Phoenix. The pastor frequently spouts racist and
bigoted rants against the ‘brown people’ and blames them for all that
is bad in America. When McCain is called on this, his supporters say
things like, “What about Jesse Jackson, he is a democrat.” Isn’t Al
Sharpton one of your preachers?”.On the March 17th Hannity and Colmes,
Karl Rove was on to discuss the Barrack Obama – Rev. Wright fiasco.
Rove correctly pointed out that Obama could not have known this man
for 20 years and not know his feelings on race. Kirsten Powers, pinch
hitting for Alan Colmes, stated that Obama wasnot present for those
inflammatory sermons. Rove again pointed to the bigger
picture to which Kirsten responded with the statement that Obama was not
present. Rove looked frustrated. Sean Hannity came to the rescue to
move the discussion forward.
(Obama has since admitted being present during similar rants by Wright)
Let me Define You
Those on the left often say, ‘as a conservative you
Should…’. For example, as a conservative you should
be in favor of expanding the SCHIP program that provides
health care for children. Aren’t you in favor of family values?
(Never mind that SCHIP is the ‘foot in the door’ of socialist style
government health care). As conservatives we have either
pointed out the difference (like talking to your dog and expecting
comprehension) or ignored the comments.
Recently the lefties have taken the next step. They in their infinite
wisdom are now going to tell us all what the Bible says. Did you
know that Jesus’ instruction to help the poor mandates government
redistribution of wealth (i.e. socialism)? Did you know that the
sermon on the mount justifies homosexuality? According to
the left it does.
This will backfire. While conservatives have learned to live with
and/or ignore the left’s definitions of conservatism, there is a
whole larger group of people that not only know what the bible
says but what the bible means in its whole context. Their voices
may not be heard in the ‘town square’, but their votes
will be heard at election time.
Media Bias
On a recent Glen Beck Program (CNN Headline News) liberal spin
was exposed. Now the Main Stream Media is accused of liberal bias on
a regular basis and they deny it on a regular basis. Glen exposed this
bias by showing a clip of his interaction with a Catholic clergyman on
the night of the Texas and Ohio primaries. Glen stated that he got a
lot of weird Email, and some of them accused Barrack Obama of
being the anti-christ. Glen and the clergyman were laughing and joking
about the zany email as they went to break. Glen then showed how
that exchange grew from a bloggers story to MSNBC where Glen was
Keith Oberman’s worst person of the day for calling Barrack Obama
the anti Christ. In the Sunday March 9 edition of the New York Times
an editorial on hate speech used the example of Beck calling
Obama the anti-Christ.
