Lefty Logic

Lefty Logic
   In evaluating the political scene

I read and listen to people on both the left and

The right. I apply logic and common sense

While my own prejudices enter in to the process,

I try to perceive the opposite opinion.

That is where I am continually puzzled.

At the left leaning web sites, on left leaning talk

radio, and in left leaning publications I read the

same stuff over and over and almost word for

word. Here are a couple of examples:

Bush lied about the reasons for going to Iraq.

May I refer you to UN resolution 1441? How about

speeches by John Kerry and Bill Clinton calling for

regime change in Iraq in 1999 and 2000.

Another:  Bush has taken away our rights and

scuttled our Constitution.

I have seen lefty after lefty challenged to point

out one right that they don’t have now that they

had in 2000. None have ever answered. As for

me, I can do everything I ever could, so where is

the problem?

Still another:  75% of the American people are

against the war in Iraq.

Just prior to the elections of 2006, at a time when

things were looking bleak in Iraq, a survey revealed

that indeed 75% of the public was against the war.

That changed with the surge and recent successes

in Iraq. That doesn’t stop lefty’s from touting it like the

survey happened yesterday.

One More; Liberal politicians call for a return to

a constitutional democracy.

The United States has never been a constitutional

democracy. Since 1776 we have been a constitutional

republic. A HUGE difference. The Soviet union was a

constitutional democracy.

Short Takes

I liked that Obama comment,

“Sometimes I can’t tell who I’m running against.”

It is time for the Ron Paul to throw in the towel.

Give it up for crying out loud.

Packers

The Green Bay  Packers fell to the New York Giants in

the NFC Championship game. As a fan the loss was

a disappointment but there is plenty of bright side. It

seems like the Packers have an excellent coach and

front office. They have selected good players and

coach Mike McCarthy has them playing solid

football. There are plenty of players that are early

in their career and this years success will lead to

veteran free agent interest. The building blocks are

there so it is likely that the Packers be around the

playoffs for several seasons to come.

Of the Year and Race to 08

Political Correctness.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal
minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the
clean end."

Of the Year

As 2008 dawned the 2007 ‘Of the year’ awards came forth from all directions

so in keeping with that tradition here are my…

Idiot of the Year – Jack Murtha, a major force in the cut and run strategy of the

democrat party in congress. He accused marines of atrocities in Iraq and when

the trial was over, the marines were innocent.

Scariest Person of the Year – Hillary Clinton. This quote says it all “I’m going to
take things from you for your own good.” Universal Health Care, universal

pre-K, it takes a village, all sounds like socialism to me.

Hunting Buddy of the Year – Dick Cheney. ‘duck it’s  Dick’

Pre-Game 08

A lot can and will happen before final decision time in this year's elections.

Right now its silly season and here is how it looks.

First off, there is this tendency of the GOP candidates to say that they are

the Ronald Reagan of this election. If you have to say you are like Reagan

then you are not like him. The simple reason is that Ronald Reagan was

about leadership. If a candidate is the inspirational, follow the guy over

the wall, type of leader he wouldn’t have to tell us.

As we wade through the pre-game, commonly known as the primaries,

there is wide opinion about who appeals to the social conservatives, the

evangelicals, yada yada. (As if the people in these ‘groups’ all think alike)

There is one issue that puts all others in a distant second. (except
maybe judicial
appointments) That issue is National Security.
The Isamofacists have declared war on us and hiding under the blanky
won’t change that.  These people have
stated there wishes numerous times,
and have even demonstrated their
willingness to engage us. Yet we talk
about stuff we can’t control like global
warming.  Who is going to step up
and take charge? Do we repeat the mistakes we made prior to World War 2?

That being said, there is a lot of study and examining of the candidates before

I go with one or the other, but I can say for sure, Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee are

not on my radar screen. John McCain is good on security but that Gang of 14 thing

and McCain-Feingold are deal breakers.  (Feingold is from my hometown and he

is a ‘Madison Liberal’ which in Wisconsin speak is socialist.) Mitt Romney would be

my pick if I had to vote today. (subject to change without notice, hey it’s early)

HOW ABOUT THOSE PACKERS!

After my midseason skepticism the Packers made me a believer by roaring

through the rest of the season and then pounding Seattle in the snow (literally) to move to the NFC championship game.   Could be a Superbowl appearance for

a group of fairly young and talented players led by the legendary Brett Farve.

It’s the kind of story the sports center guys live for.
