Nuance

 To the Gulag!
The show trial ended with the conviction of Scooter Libby on 4 of 5
counts. The most interesting thing about this trial is that there was
no underlying crime. There was no ‘outing’ of a covert CIA agent.
The targets were Dick Cheney and Karl Rove. Turns out they were
not involved. For most prosecutors it would have been
‘on to the next case’ as soon as it was revealed that Richard
Armitage was the so called ‘leaker’ and that Valerie Plame did not
qualify under the covert agent legislation. Not for Patrick Fitzgerald.
Someone must go to the gulag! That poor sap was Scooter Libby.
I hope he wins on appeal. The unfortunate thing is a template has
been set to go forward with more of these ‘get Bush and Co.’ trials.
There will be more and they will be relentless as well as boring.

Nuance
There appears a recent trend in the comments section following the columnists
at Townhall. In an effort to prove their rationality and deny their socialism,
liberals are using the dictionary definition* to defend themselves
as benevolent. Their actions however display a definition more toward socialism.

This from a party that prides itself on nuance.

You see, us dumb conservatives do not understand the leftists stand on issues.
We are not 'nuanced' enough to dissect the issues of the day and come
up with the correct (leftist) conclusion.

Let's explore an incident that involves nuance.

Ann Coulter wrote a book Godless, The Church of Liberalism which contained
an observation regarding the 9/11 widows. In the book Ann said that the
widows were enjoying their celebrity status which is largely based on their
husbands deaths.  (and their left leaning, Bush hating views) The
context of the paragraph, and the tone of the chapter in using the word
'enjoying' was this definition (From Merriam Webster Dictionary)
"1 : to have for one's use, benefit, or lot: experience <enjoyed great success>"
It was not in the context of
" 2 : to take pleasure or satisfaction in"
The leftists missed the NUANCE and jumped on the 2nd definition when
Ms. Coulter CLEARLY MEANT the first definition in the CONTEXT of her remarks.

On a side note, this is the only criticism that the lefty's had on the book, so one must conclude that it is all correct, even in the eyes of the left.

Another characteristic of the left is to harp on the same things even when they
are disproven, not to mention old. The Iraq war is an example. WMD’s was but
ONE of the  ‘selling points of the Iraq war. Since all of the other ‘selling’ points
are valid, even to the point of being supported by Bill Clinton and John Kerry,
the WMD point has been pounded on for four+ long years. Then there
is the canard of "war for oil". Really, then where is it? Shouldn’t it have shown
up by now? Oh, how about no bid contracts to Haliburton? The only other company
capable of competing for the Iraq contract was a French company. Can you see it now?
‘Bush exports jobs to fight war!’

Maybe I'm missing a nuance here, but another recent leftist trend is a special
credibility given to peer reviewed articles. This tells me that the persons
peers read the article.
Well whoopdeedo.
I read my co-workers reports. Sometimes I agree and sometimes not but it
is not my place to change them. Are those reports then "peer reviewed"?

The New Media Journal has an excellent article exploring the Left’s Pathology.

*Liberal, from Merriam-Webster: "...associated with ideals
of individual especially economic freedom, greater individual
participation in government, and constitutional,
political, and administrative reforms designed to secure
these objectives"
