Warming Power

In a click of the mouse you can read all you want on both sides
of the global warming issue. What I will present are some current realities.

The alarmists want us to take action now. If we don’t we are
surely doomed. The most often mentioned immediate action is
to sign on to the Kyoto Protocol.
The reality is that the Senate
voted 95-0 against signing the pact in the 1997 Byrd-Hagel
Resolution. Why? Because the Kyoto Protocol has more to do
with distributing wealth from the ‘have’ nations to the ‘have not’
nations than it does with addressing global warming. Bill Clinton
had plenty of time to sign on, as has George Bush. Neither
President seems willing to buck a 95-0 Senate vote. Gee!

The Kyoto Protocol is not working. None of the countries that
signed it are meeting their emission goals because doing so
would cripple their economies. The biggest flaw of the Kyoto
Protocol is that it exempts China, one of the world’s biggest polluters.

If the United States were to implement the provisions of the
Kyoto Protocol the cost would be a 4.3% reduction in the Gross
Domestic Product. That is a lifestyle change of major proportions
for all of us.
Kyoto type legislation is the route proposed by the
Global Warming Advocates. How much of your lifestyle are you
willing to sacrifice to this altar?

According to Al Gore, the melting arctic ice caps will cause
New York City and almost all of Florida to be underwater. Let’s
revisit our 7th grade Science class for this interesting experiment.
Put some ice cubes in a glass. Fill the glass with water. When
the ice cubes melt will the glass be fuller?

Global warming has been transformed from an interesting
scientific hypothesis to a political belief system because
‘progressives’ want to socialize the economy. There is little
scientific reason to do anything on global warming at this time.
The political reasons would only be to further the agenda of the left.
